Alumni Spotlight: Ginny Myers Sain

April 25, 2024

Author, theatrical director, and acting teacher Ginny Myers Sain (creative writing, 1990), recently released her third book, One Last Breath.

Sain says, "My summer at OSAI was the first time I ever thought of myself as a writer. It was such a gift to be surrounded by so much contagious creative energy of all kinds, and I took that new idea of myself as an artist with me when I left Quartz Mountain."

Sain's books are all about finding the beautiful in the strange & dark and the strange & dark in the beautiful. An intriguing commonality in her works is the setting, often situated near water, which intensifies the narrative's atmosphere. Her first book, New York Times bestseller Dark and Shallow Lies, takes place deep in the bayou, in the quaint town of La Cachette, self-proclaimed as the Psychic Capital of the World. In a town where secrets lurk just below the surface, and where a murderer is on the loose, nobody can be presumed innocent.

Her most recent work, One Last Breath, takes place in the freshwater springs of the small Florida town of Mount Orange. This supernatural thriller is filled with murder, romance, and a haunting decades long mystery. One Last Breath is part thriller, part supernatural, part breathless romance, and part true crime case study.
