Famous Artists and Oklahoma Students Showcase Work

Event at State Capitol Honors Arts Institute Students
Sandy Garrett to Give Keynote Address
A reception at the State Capitol will honor the students accepted to the 2008 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. State legislators, as well as Oklahoma Arts Institute donors and board members, will help celebrate the students' prestigious achievement. The event will occur on Tuesday, May 6th from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. on the 4th floor rotunda. Grassroots Campaign Supports Arts at Quartz Mountain
The 2008 Oklahoma Arts Institute Fund Drive will kick off Tues., April 22, with a volunteer rally at the Altus Public Library. The annual event raises thousands each year for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI). This two-week academy in June provides training with nationally renowned artists for Oklahoma high school students in the visual, performing, and literary arts. Read Story
2008 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Students Selected
Students Represent 70 Communities Across Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Arts Institute has announced the students selected for the 2008 Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. Selected through a competitive audition process, the students hail from 70 cities and towns across Oklahoma. Out of a pool of 1,200 applicants, 274 students were selected to attend, with 81 students selected as alternates. In conjunction with their acceptance, each student receives a full scholarship to the program worth over $2,000. Auditions Begin for Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute
All Accepted Students Receive Full Scholarships
Auditions begin Jan. 19 for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OSAI). Oklahoma high school students are urged to schedule auditions as soon as possible for the program, held June 14-29. OSAI offers professional training with nationally-renowned artists in the literary, visual, and performing arts. Every accepted student automatically receives a full scholarship to the program, worth over $2,400. Read Story

Then plan to attend the Oklahoma Arts Institute Student Art Sale, Thursday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Oklahoma Memorial Union Ballroom on the O.U. campus. A wide variety of framed and unframed photographs, paintings, and drawings will be sold, along with t-shirts, books, CDs and more. Artists Flock to Quartz Mountain
Autumn marks the annual migration of artists from across the state to Quartz Mountain for the Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute. This weekend kicks off a series of workshops for adults taught by nationally-renowned artists in the literary, visual and performing arts. Quartz Mountain Inspires Artists of All Ability Levels
Turn over a new leaf this fall at the Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain (OFAI). Educators and artists of all ability levels can attend 4-day weekend retreats taught by nationally-renowned artists in the visual, literary and performing arts. Oklahoma public school educators automatically receive full scholarships to the program, including tuition, room and board, funded by the State Department of Education and private donors. Read Story
